Time team video of Beadnell

A short introduction to Beadnell by the “Time team” . The video was taken during June 2011 and they say

The upload had the soundtrack removed by youtube “copyright issue” (I had to overlay a bland youtube tune) so lost some of the impact as the voices etc were taken out. The film was only made on June 3rd so programme has not aired yet. The dig was looking for the remains of St Ebba’s monastery, several skeletons and artifacts were uncovered I heard them talking about 13thC artifacts , however, the site was occupied much earlier. I guess we will have to wait for the full story.

Nearby.

The large lime kilns tell of a past when industry was critical to people living here. Now it is basically a tourist village with

a beautiful beach. The lime kilns are now owned by the National Trust.
